Our Social Media Trivia Challenge

The response to our social media quiz has been very exciting to watch. So many new friends and connections! We’ve gotten a lot of requests for information on some of the data and we’d like to share some of that with you here (no fair peeking before you take the quiz!).

So let’s talk about the sources for our data. The age data on social networks comes from a Rapleaf Study published in July of 2008. The study gives us very interesting data about gender and age on many popular social media sites.

Much of our data about Twitter came from the “State of the Twittersphere” report from Hubspot.
This report has excellent data on average followers, user growth and also supplies good information about time and location of Tweets. The information for the report was collected from HubSpot’s Twitter Grader.

Our data about Facebook came from their own press release statistics and the youtube data came from this excellent stats resource “49 Amazing Social Media, Web 2.0 And Internet Stats
Which was released in January, and is an interesting read for anyone involved in social media.

If you haven’t taken the quiz yet, give it a spin!
